Senior Pictures Using Smoke Bombs

Sometimes we like to push the boundaries of what a senior picture should look like. One thing we love to do is add smoke bombs or fireworks into our images, and since today is the 4th of July, Independence Day, we thought we would post a few images with colored smoke bombs in them.

FYI - The 4th of July is our favorite holiday!

Are you in love with that urban vogue style but have no idea where to start when putting together your wardrobe? Here is a quick clothing guide for your senior session. Plus I'm also including a list of stores you can check out.

Quick Clothing Guide

Glasses
(Sunglasses with a metallic finish or a clear aviator)

Shirts with bold writing on the front
(If you want to keep things chic try to look for black or white)

Adidas or Nike shoes
(Dresses with workout shoes are the new thang)

Joggers
(Yes, I said joggers. I promise they will look good!)

Hats
(Baseball caps with large white logos on the front)

Chokers
(They are making a major comeback, so are fanny packs...but that's for a different post:)

Stores to shop

So because we live here in the PNW (Idaho) I'm only going to list larger stores that you can find in most regions.

Forever 21
(So here is the thing, yes the clothing might be a little on the thinner side, but for the price and the look...its worth it!)

H & M
(This place seems to be a crowd pleaser for sure, they have so many different styles and they often carry interesting pieces that are new and upcoming)

Macys
(A surprise, yes. But you can find some really stylized pieces here.)

How to Create a Unique Senior Image

How to Create a Unique Senior Image

Do you dream in shades of color? The creation of beauty is imagined first in the mind of the creator.

To create a unique senior image, first you need to think to yourself - What is it that I want to see? How do you want to feel when you look at this image of yourself; joy, hope, beauty even excitement? Can you list three words out loud to yourself?

Before any shoot, I alway consider the way I want my audience to feel when they view the final image. Then I start choosing the colors, props, and locations surrounding that particular feeling. Sometimes I even pick a song that represents the image as well. Take some time to think about what it is that you want to create, then start a Pinterest board and begin pinning anything that fits within your current vision. Even if it’s a picture of a mountain or an abandoned house in the woods, pin it. These pins are a visual representation of what you're feeling artistically - and can immensely help when designing your final senior look.

Visit our Senior Boards to begin

"In this image, we placed a long gold mirror on a sandy dune and laid Ariana's head on the ledge. Then we draped a sheer white curtain over her face and let the wind whip through her hair. We played "Izzy" by the new Transformers soundtrack."

"This red bush was actually outside our studio next to the pavement. I loved the way the harsh tones of the bush contrasted against the white color of Carleigh's hair!"

"This image is one of our most favored images of all time." Quick fact: It almost didn't make it into the public eye. "It was taken in the Cedar forest just outside Troy Montana, and Devon wore a black crop top and large tulle skirt from our studio that was bunched with a clip in the front."

"This shot looks like it was taken in the deep forest, right? Wrong. It was shot just off the pavement near the city of Post Falls, Idaho."

"We absolutely love the Oregon Coast, particularly the city of Seaside. The ocean breeze, the seagulls calling, the sound of the waves as they crash upon the miles long beach. Needless to say, this is our happy place and every year we create something new in its favor."
Song choice: I"ll Show You by Justin Bieber"

"We were inspired by a certain image that Selena Gomez had taken a few years back. Try googling her name with the words "Purple flowers" behind it. You will know what happened here."

"So it seems that everyone LOVES mermaids. Like LOVES them... Turns out this image went viral on Instagram overnight. We woke up with a crazy amount of new followers and so did Jainy."

"Strange positions sometimes turn out the best. Ashley really had to work for this shot, but it was totally worth it. Perfect curve, gorgeous expression - This image really captured the heart of this project."

How to Create a Flower Crown for your Senior Session

How to Create a Flower Crown for your Senior Session

You have seen them on Pinterest. You see them in the magazines. You see them at all the big music festivals. Flower crowns; made of roses, babies breath, daisies & even peonies! They are gorgeous, and also a favorite here at RKP. A flower crown can make a good photo into a great one. So if you are a floral gal, then this post is for you.

So let's begin with identifying your desired look.

Do you want to look soft and airy? Pastel and maybe even pink? If so then you should look for babies breath and possibly pink roses or peonies. Below, this flower crown was assembled in our hotel room without any floral wire. "Not easy!" However, you can get green flower wire at any florist shop.

If you are thinking to yourself; "Oh no, I can't do this!" Have no fear, most local florists will create a flower crown for your senior shoot.

"Now if you want that cute "I'm a little hippy vibe" then you may want to consider going with yellow flowers such as gerbera daisies or carnations.

And last but not least, the fake flower crown. Still super cute!
